THE PROGRAM
The Wilmington Alumni Chapter has established a scholarship program to assist Pender, New Hanover, or Brunswick County High School students who are pursuing a college education at North Carolina A&T State University. This scholarship is offered each year for full-time students attending North Carolina A&T State University. This scholarship program is administered by the Wilmington Alumni Chapter of North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the Wilmington Alumni Chapter Scholarship Program must be – · High school seniors who are currently enrolled in a Pender, New Hanover, or Brunswick County, North Carolina High School. · Applicant/Recipient must register at North Carolina A&T State University as a full-time** student. **Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year.
Applicant must currently have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (weighted) on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent). Additionally, the applicant/recipient must not be the recipient of a full academic or athletic scholarship to North Carolina A&T State University.
AWARDS
If selected as a recipient, they will receive the designated award amount.
APPLICATION
Interested students must complete the application in English and mail it along with a current, official (sealed and stamped) transcript of grades, no later than the listed application date. Applications must be postmarked on or before application date, or application is denied. Applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals, aspirations, and unusual personal or family circumstances. Selection of recipients is made by the Wilmington Alumni Chapter Scholarship committee. Upon application submission, all applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Applicants will be notified of application status by April 30. Not all applicants will be selected for a personal interview. The scholarship recipient will be selected in April, and a representative from the Wilmington Alumni Chapter Scholarship committee will attend your local high school awards day to present the award to you.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS
North Carolina A&T State University will process scholarship payments on behalf of the Wilmington Alumni Chapter. Payments are made in one installment of USD. Funds should be in the student’s account before the tuition bill is due.
OBLIGATIONS
Recipients are required to notify Wilmington Alumni Chapter of any changes in address, school enrollment, cooperative education/intern assignment, or other relevant information.
